Electromagnetic flowmeters (mag meters) are volumetric flow meters that take measurements by generating a magnetic field that channels through conductive liquids as they flow through a pipe. As the fluid flows, the voltage electrodes in the pipe wall sense the voltage. The higher the flow rate, the greater the amount of voltage generated. An electronic transmitter then converts these signals to provide flow rate measurements.
Use electromagnetic flowmeters with virtually any conductive liquid, including abrasive slurries, water, wastewater, chemicals, acids, and contaminated fluids. These meters are not compatible with steam, gas, oil, or nonconductive fluids.
